Senior British civil servant in Malaya and Resident Councillor at Penang,
whose family had extensive interests in the rubber industry.
 
Born September 15-Sep-1870 at London, son of Sir Gordon Blennerhassett Voules (Private Secretary to the Parliamentary Secretary of the Admiralty) and Frances Cotton Minchin.
 
Educated at Dulwich College and Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. Barrister-at-Law (Inner Temple).
 
Resident Councillor of Penang 1922-24 and 1924-25. Acting Resident Councillor of Penang 1922. Went to Malaya 1892, joining the Perak Government Service. Acting Federal Inspector of Schools at Kuala Lumpur 1900. Captain of the Royal Selangor Golf Club 1905.
 
Appointments in Government Service:
Solicitor-General, Straits Settlements 1913; Acting Attorney General of Straits Settlements 1919; Acting Judicial Commissioner of Federated Malay States 1919; Acting Legal Adviser of Federated Malay States and legal advisor (Officer, Class 1A), both 1920.
 
President of Selangor Golf Club 1920. Retired to 95 Bath Hill Court, Bournemouth 1925. Died 1954. Compiled "The Laws of the Federated Malay States,1877-1920".
